“They’re on the run,” the thin man stood up after examining the wide spread footsteps of the gorillas.
The short fat one responded with a grunt. “Bloody hell man, I told you not to be so daft and go into the bush to take a fucking piss. The damn scent travelled downwind and warned the beasties.”
Michael Clayton move “If it makes you feel better, I got caught while trying to zip myself up. Besides, when the wind switched they were warned before I took it.” The tall one put his hands on his hips.
The stout one shook his head in complete disappointment. “Bloody yank, it would make me feel better if the zipper acted like a guillotine. We put on the scent cover for a damn reason, to hide our body odor even going downwind. But, no… You act like a damn fucking little boy and take a piss when the wind is about to switch.”
“Screw you,” the American responded with a flip of the middle finger.
Drive-By Chronicles: Sidewayz download The short one smirked. “We’re looking for gorillas today, not birds. Now, make up for your stupidity and track these fucking apes so we can shoot the shit out of them and make thousands of pounds for doing so.”
“I don’t know why the hell you call it pounds, when it doesn’t even weigh that much…” the American muttered beneath his breath.
The level of steam coming from the Brit’s rage seemed to add the very humid air of the jungle. “Because we still fucking use the metric system you wanker. Now, do your damn job.”
The thin man rolled his eyes and continued through the shrubbery. The short man followed as he cocked the rather large rifle in his hands.
The scent of salt and urea was lost upon the Alpha’s nose. He gave a resounding grunt indicating to the mother to take a break. As her chest heaved to catch her breath, she reached her hairy arm toward her back. Having grasped the little lump attached to her neck, she pulled at it. She gave a slight cringe as a few of her own hairs were pulled out, and the little lump of hair was revealed to be her newborn son. She lightly cradled him, while she breathed an extra sigh of relief. She began picking at him to get out the small ticks and fleas, and ate the insects as an appetizer. The son was wide-eyed and gurgled in response. Once in a while he mistook his mother’s finger for her teat, and attempted to sup milk from the digit. The Alpha Male patrolled the area, waiting for any further trace of the tell tale sign of trouble. Deciding that he had lost the predatory animals, he sat down to rest as well. He looked at his mate with approval as she picked the various infestations of anthropoids off his son. Something in his primitive mind had decided it was a good idea to grab a small bite, and he began to pick at himself for any little snacks.
Suddenly, a black crow had shot up from the jungles, delivering the warning flare of Death. The Alpha Male caught sight of the crow, and gave a barking alert. Quickly, his mate put the son on her back, as they began to run. A resounding echo of thunder, followed by the buzzing of sharp metallic things, made the simians move that much quicker. One last crack was followed by a yelp by the Alpha’s mate. He turned to bark again, giving the order to keep moving and have no hesitation. Her fear gave no quarrel as she continued to sprint through the twigs and branches in her way, and not realizing that her load was a little lighter than usual. Both gave a pause as the metallic hurting pointing things no longer whizzed through the air. The female reached to grab her son, and found a little thing pricking at her neck instead. She yanked at it and roared like a lion having a splinter pulled out of its foot. She examined the short, stubby metal thing. A quick sniff indicated a familiar scent of the hairless predators. She tossed it away, as though it would cause a plague upon her. She reached all around her back, sometimes knowing her son would slip down while she ran during such predatory attacks. It was to no avail. Nervousness grew a cancer that ate her being, and she began to wildly search the ground for her fallen son. The Alpha male did not follow, as instinct drove nails to his feet. He would not budge until he knew the predators were still not hunting him. Finally, several leaps up and down indicated a happy discover of what was lost, now being found. The Alpha’s rage made him snort and bellow a couple of times. The female quieted herself, as she did not want the hunters to find her. She quickly picked up the little bundle of matted fur, and placed it on her back. She began to move until there was a big thump in the grass. She jumped at the noise and quickly scanned all around her. No thunder, no whizzing sound, no predators were present.
She reached to her back and did not feel the little attached bundle of joy. She looked at the ground, spotting the son again. This time, she cradled the baby lightly so he would not slip off her back. She quickly caught up to the Alpha Male. He stood like a statue, his expression stoic. He simply glanced at the baby and then at his mate. The look he gave his son was one of an unneeded extra weight that would burden their escape. The female retaliated with a pick and prod of the son. When the son didn’t reply with a flinch, she poked at him. She looked up to the Alpha Male, still an expressionless statue that turned his head to the great open expanse that laid in the opposite direction of the hunters. She refused and laid down her son, again poking at him. Another, this time much harder. The baby flipped over to reveal glazed eyes and a gaping mouth. The female hollered and hooted in denial, still giving an occasional poke to make sure of the tragic truth of the moment. Finally, she submitted to the Death’s knoll for her son.
She began to whimper and moan in agony for her loss. The Alpha Male cautiously approached her, and gave a few comforting coos to his mate. They were urgent ones, one that gave the feeling that if they did not move they would be the next to fall. The female did not respond, and the Alpha bickered in quiet ire to get her attention. Still no response from the female, as she coddled the unmoving child. The Alpha caught another flutter of a bird, one covered by the green leaves of the jungle. Giving one final emphasized groan, the Alpha Male waved his hands to plead with his mate to continue. She still rocked the departed child in her arms, and the Alpha Male snorted in contempt. He moved forward on to his own path, leaving the female to her own fate. The sounds of shots rang through the air, and urged the lone Greyback to speed up his retreat.
The Alpha Male sniffed no further trace of predators, or his mate. He knew her fate already. She had either been killed by the metallic stingers, or she would die of starvation due to depression. He would allow a brief moment to mourn her loss, but his primal instinct to find another mate was much stronger. Unfortunately, his mate was the only scent he had caught upon the drifting winds. He would have to move outside of his territory to find another. He started his journey as a deer bounded right in front of him. At first, he jumped because of the surprise of this creature just coming out of nowhere, but once he saw a non-predatory creature he gave a simple grunt. He ignored it, and continued forward as he knew any non-predatory creature such as this would bound away at his movement. He quickly found out this particular one was stubborn. It did not budge at his first movement. He scratched his nose as a means of distraction then leapt out waving his arms, howling while baring his white sharp teeth.
He expected the creature to go away, but no it was the rare circumstance of a particularly brave non-predatory creature. He immediately took a more defensive stance, knowing that this one may be as territorial as him.
He carefully watched its entire body for any signs of movement. None was given, as he cautiously took a couple of steps forward. His disappointed groan was more of a gurgle, as it did not move. He had no time to deal with this stubborn non-predatory creature, and started to walk around it. He gave a pure perturbed shriek, and once again flailed his arms and bared his teeth. He stopped to see if the creature left, but no such luck. In fact, the thing was closer to him than before.
He leapt at it full force, in an effort to scare it away for his territory. The thing bounded back as he still continued his tirade. Soon, the Alpha would hit the ground and he would chase it further from his property. But, the non-predatory creature did a strange thing, and curled its lips up. At that moment, instinct kicked in… his primitive mind informing him he should have hit the ground by now. He looked down, as he spread his arms and howled. This time it was not rage, but fear that drove him. He was falling into a pit that apparently the creature was standing over a moment before. But that didn’t matter as his primitive mind only calculated the end impact.

“Welcome.”
He stirred and checked his body, no wounds. He checked the area around him. Something about the place seemed tranquil and calmed his great primitive mind.
“As you can tell, the words I speak are translated into something you can comprehend.”
He looked up, and saw a feminine tall creature, something that reminded him of the nice hairless he had met previously. However, adorned on her head were branches of trees, like that non-predatory creature in the woods. She moved forward, as he kept his attention on her.
“You wonder why you are here. We need to protect what little we have. You see, your territory is not set by where you rub your scent glands, but by what you place your feet upon. This entire planet is your territory, and it has been in serious danger for a long time. We have wanted to act, but have been afraid to do so since it may destroy the very thing we seek to protect. However, we have realized our folly perhaps too late.”
The Alpha’s reply was taking a tick off of his person, and then eating it. The body language was clear: he didn’t give a damn.
“We can give you back your mate, if you want. She is the only mate left. There is no other.”
He looked up at the creature, and he waved his hands in a particular fashion. He knew this hairless might not understand his grunts, however he could try the hand language.
“You don’t care? Why not?”
Again he signed. Want home, have home, mate dead. Nothing bring back mate.
The entity simply sneered.
“You know damn well you don’t have a home. The hairless ones invade it almost every day.”
Bad Hairless. Good Hairless stop Bad Hairless.
“Do they really? Then how come they didn’t stop the death of your son?”
Not always there. Good Hairless help others, was away. She taught talk. Death comes to all.
“I see your primitive minds have evolved somewhat. We can help you escape death, but to do it you need to be our protector.”
No escape. Don’t care.
The entity grabbed the Greyback and lifted it up.
“There can be an escape, but to do that we need to prevent the end. We need the hairless to stay here, so we may exist. But, we don’t trust them to be our frontline soldiers. We don’t trust them to be our protectors. We need the Creatures of the Earth to be our vanguard for this Fertile Crescent.”

The Greyback simply snorted through his nose, as the spew spattered against the face of the Entity. The entity simply placed the Alpha back down.
“I’ll take that as a no.”
End is end. No escape. Don’t care early late.
The Fertile Crescent Entity opened back a portal to the jungle as the Alpha went through it.
“No, you see the Alpha will balance out the Omega. You have no choice. Your service to us was preordained.”

“Bloody hell, what the fuck do you mean you lost his tracks?” the short one shoved the American hard.
The American didn’t even budge, he simply responded with a shove in kind. “It’s like the damn Earth itself swallowed him whole. You’ve probably never heard of the rumors that surround this place. Beetles that eat your brains, strange disappearances, and all that jazz.”
“Don’t try to tell your pitiful camp fire spook stories to me mate. I don’t give a rot. Now, find the tracks before night fall.”
The American nodded, as even he knew not to be around for the things that went bump in the night. He looked to the ground again. Plain as day were footsteps laid out for him, where none had been before. “What the fuck?”
“What is it mate?” the British short man looked down and saw the prints. “How in the bloody hell did you miss that?”
The American shrugged in complete confusion. “They weren’t there at all. I swear to God.”
“I think your rot has affected your brain. Either that, or you have a damn beetle in there with your marbles. I’ll take point now, since that damn beast is acting stupid for a change,” the British man pressed forward, as the American followed.

He heard the creak of the branches bend to a creature’s whim. The snap came from high in the air. He knew it was a tall hairless, but he didn’t smell them. He could always smell the good hairless, her odor was very pungent, so it was the predatory hairless. He didn’t move, as the dark grounds provided camouflage from the predators. Or so he thought.
A loud crack and a roar provided proof that one little metallic stinger had made his mark. He began to run as fast as his knuckles and feet propelled him, as he didn’t bother to notice the blood coming from his left shoulder. Fortunately, for the primate it was just a graze. He still heard the predatory creatures from behind, as he ran through thickets and bushes. Several loud cracks rang out, as he still was being chased. Another graze to the right leg complimented the one on his shoulder. He was now effectively slowed down by the predators. He had no further choice, as law of the jungle was genetically implanted in this creature since God gave it birth. He ran in big circles to confuse the predatory hairless. He hid behind a mound of dirt, as he sat as still as he could. He breathed slowly so as not to alert the hairless by any sound. This time the ruse worked as he heard them speak.
“We’ve lost the Alpha, you damn wanker.”
FernGully 2: The Magical Rescue
“Shut up, the damn thing ran in friggin’ circles. It’s as though he thinks like us.”
“The damn thing is supposed to be a distant cousin, more like a brother to you.”
The Alpha heard the footsteps come closer.
“He’s here.”
“Where?”
The Alpha didn’t respond but tried to remain as calm as possible. The footsteps came closer as the Alpha picked up some dirt with his hands. He tossed it at the two hairless predators, as they flinched at it instinctively. The Alpha knocked the long metallic thing from the short man, as he recognized that as the thing which spat the hurting stingers.
“Damn it, I knew I should have brought my ruddy laser gun!”
The tall man finally cleared his eyes, and saw the Alpha charging. He let loose a couple of shots, as they tore through the Alpha. The Alpha was blind to the pain, as he let pure rage and adrenaline tear the tall man to pieces with his bare arms. The short man had also finally managed to clear his eyes as he spotted his dead partner in crime lying on the ground, with bones protruding from every limb.
“Oh shit, there goes Little Boy. Damn bastard was annoying as hell, but he didn’t deserve that.”
The Alpha snorted from behind the short fat hairless. The hairless turned around to face the Alpha. The Alpha underestimated the short fat one as he shot one off a couple of rounds. As they tore into the Alpha’s limbs, the hairless laughed.
“That was for Little Boy, you bloody piece of shit. Your brain is going to make a mint for me as well.”
The short fat one pointed the gun directly toward The Alpha’s head. “As the American might have put it, it’s time to fall off the building, you damn ape.”
The Alpha flinched at the click. But, no thunder, no end. Again, several more clicks followed.
The Alpha managed to get up, despite his injuries. The short fat one gave a surprised look.
“You’re quite an impressive specimen there mate, but I still carry a big stick.”
The hairless swung the empty rifle at the Alpha.
The Alpha simply caught it, and yanked it free from the short rotund hairless hand. The Alpha grunted as he lifted it up, in mock imitation of the short hairless.
“Well, ain’t that just grand. I’ll be going now. Ta ta.”
The Alpha swung as the short one was motioning to run away. The blunt end of the rifle knocked the short fat one right on the head. With a roll of the eyes back to his head, the short one fell back.

The Alpha sniffed him, and saw his chest move up and down. There was no end with that blow, so the Alpha proceeded to vent all his rage with the empty rifle upon the short man. The Alpha was satisfied when he saw no more rise from the short one’s chest. As the Alpha calmed down, the adrenaline was no longer his friend.
The Alpha fell down from the shock due to his injuries.

She cut through the brush with her blade, as she wiped the sweat from her brow. Her bright face was furled in irritation, as her emerald eyes seemed to reflect the very rays of the sun that penetrated the greenery. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a bun to prevent it from being a hindrance, as her long khakis jeans and shirt provided protection against any scratches or insects. At her side was a gun, just in case she met any sort of predatory creature along the way. She cut through another shrub, as her jaw dropped from shock.
“Oh my god!”
As she had no idea of the circumstances, God had nothing to do with the sight that lay before her.
Two men, one an unrecognizable fat man and the infamous tracker known as “Little Boy”, looked as though a bomb may had tore through the very fabric of there being. But, it was no bomb. Rather, it was the injured Greyback that was lying in his own pool of blood. He was still breathing, a sleeping giant waiting to be awoken again. She instantly picked up the radio, and pressed a button.
“I need four evac beds stat,” she started to treat the Greyback’s wounds with the first aid kit she had. ????? ????? ?????? ????? tv
In mere minutes, an odd sound was heard overhead. Four stretcher platforms floated down to her location. The beds extracted arms from their sides, as they carefully placed the injured Greyback and the dead humans upon them. She laid down on the last one.
“Destination: Clinic.”
The verbal command was obeyed as the four beds lifted off the ground and zoomed off into the distant horizon.

After she had successfully stopped the bleeding of all his wounds, she looked at the other doctor who was observing.
“Well Dr. Forbes, is there anything you can do?”
She let her long golden silk hair go loose as she took out the braids that held it in a bun.

“I,” the doctor attempted to keep his drool in his mouth, “can implement the standard cybernetic replacements with replicated skin and fur.”
She gave a smile which made the Doctor’s hands shake more. “I believe we need more than that. It isn’t just called ‘The Zoo’ for nothing.”
He took off his glasses and wiped off the veritable London Fog which clouded them up. It wasn’t only the fact this woman was attractive, but the doctor rarely had time for…other pursuits… besides his work. My damn hormones will get me in trouble yet, he thought to himself. “My dear Ms. Biggles, what more do you want?”
“I want the works,” she said as she playfully caressed his shoulder.
He couldn’t help but relax at her touch, although this wasn’t quite how she usually acted.
“Well Josie,” he smiled widely at the use of her first name, “it depends on what you mean by the works.”
“The works as in full military hardware, the latest micro central processing unit for the cybernetics, and I want a failsafe device just in case they go mad.”
She continued with the massaging, since the doctor tensed up at the mere mention of military hardware.
“And, what do you intend to do?” Dr. Forbes gave the voluptuous Veterinary doctor a stoic look.
She smiled.
“I have a staff of one protecting ‘The Zoo’, and it’s me. Although my backers no longer provide protection, they do provide funds. But, no one is insane enough to come here on the pay I can offer them. So, I want the works. If I can’t hire help, I might as well create it.”
“My God woman!” he shouted at the top of his lungs, “I will not play part in such an immoral act!”
She stopped rubbing his shoulders, and took a step back. “It’s a shame really. I hope you survive the experience.”
He instantly looked for a gun, but found nothing but a little piece of…brain. “What the?”
The little piece instantly came alive as it buzzed its wings, she smiled as she looked at it.
“It’s called a brain beetle. It latches onto your brain like a parasite, and usually sucks a chemical out of it. But, these don’t. Instead, it’s going to crawl in your ear and act like our little controlling device. You see, you will cooperate whether you like it or not. That is, as long as you survive the experience of the bug crawling on your brain and attaching to it.”
The doctor sweated as the beetle drew closer to his ear. “Okay, I’ll do as you say. Please, I don’t want this.”
She pulled the beetle away, as she grew antlers from her head.
“Excellent. If you should ever refuse me again, I will place this in you to ensure you follow our lead. Now, your true friend is still alive,” she pointed to the gagged blonde haired vet, “and, she will cooperate as well. See to it that the Beta testing begins.”
The doctor simply nodded.
“Yes, Ma’am.”
“Very well. Remember doctor, it is not an immoral thing you do. You are saving the Earth, by creating i’s guardians.”
The female fully transmogrified into a deer, and ran out of the clinic.
The Doctor freed the female vet from her bonding.
“Are you okay Josie?”
She nodded.
“I’m fine, but what the hell just happened?”
“We were accosted by a Green Peace Deer,” the doctor’s horrible bed side manner showed through his bad joke, “I think.”
She lifted herself off the floor, and dusted herself off. “Well, do you think we should carry Ms. Venison’s plans out?”
“I don’t know,” the doctor shrugged, “I’m not exactly an extreme environmentalist. But, I don’t like the fact of a beetle in my brain much better. I do really prefer the old gun to the head at times.”
Her blue eyes darted at the doctor. “I’m not even going there.”
He smiled and gave nod.

“Well, I guess I should start,” then, he realized the true color of Josie’s eyes. “Like my mom said, never trust a woman with green eyes,” he muttered beneath his breath.
